Martin Luther King, Jr. would have marched for President Trump’s impeachment, according to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).
“Martin Luther King Jr. would have encouraged every responsible human being to march for justice, to march for peace, and most of all, to march for the impeachment of Donald Trump,” she tweeted Monday.

However, MLK’s own niece Alveda King made comments over the weekend that completely reject Waters’ unfounded remarks.
“Racism is just a word that is being bandied about and thrown… at the president unjustly,” said King on Saturday. “President Trump is not a racist.”
King continued saying it is “outrageous to call a man a racist who continues to acknowledge the significance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Reverend. Martin Luther King, my uncle, in a positive way and he puts his money where his mouth is, he puts his energy behind it.”
King has made supportive comments about Trump in the past, calling him “compassionate” and a “brilliant man.”
“The president, of course, is leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the womb who have a right to live,” she said in July. “We don’t have to defend the president. I believe, and President Trump might agree, that we are defending America. He’s leading the charge, and we are supporting him.”
It’s worth noting Waters called for Trump’s impeachment four days before he was actually sworn in.
Additionally, she called for Trump to be impeached over not just his recent “sh–hole” comments, but also his NFL comments, his firing of former FBI Director James Comey, and for the Charlottesville violence last summer.
Of course, none of these qualify as impeachable offenses according to Article II Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution which states, “The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
