A protest that began at the Liberty Pole in downtown Rochester ended hours later with dozens of arrests on East Avenue late Friday evening and into Saturday morning.
Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said at a press conference early Saturday that 74 arrests were made.
Ciminelli said 112 officers were present, including state police and members of town police departments. No officers were injured and there was no property damage.
It took police officers about three hours to clear an area on East Avenue, beginning about 10 p.m. Friday and continuing into the early morning hours. Officers told the protesters that they were blocking the streets.
