A grim President Obama, just arrived in Poland for NATO meetings early Friday, condemned the “vicious, calculated and despicable attack” on Dallas police.

Five officers were killed and six others injured in what appears to be a coordinated attack by at least four snipers who opened fire on police near the end of a peaceful protest over recent police shootings. Police still don’t know if the shooters had any connection to the protest.

Obama said the attack is a “wrenching reminder” of the sacrifices police make for us.

“We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, it also makes attacks like these more deadly, more tragic. And in the days ahead, we’re going to have to consider those realities as well.

“In the meantime, today, our focus is on the victims anad their families. They are heartbroken. The entire city of Dallas is grieving.
