Glenn Beck and his radio crew continued their crusade against Matt Drudge live on air yesterday, at one point brazenly lying in claiming that Drudge had posted a headline that said Beck had called for Trump to be killed.

The controversy began when Drudge linked to a story that contained a transcript of author Brad Thor’s appearance on Beck’s show.

The context of the discussion was how to stop Donald Trump from abandoning the constitution if he became president. At one point, Thor clearly implies that a “patriot” may have to assassinate Trump if Congress stands idly by.

THOR: “I am about to suggest something very bad. It is a hypothetical I am going to ask as a thriller writer.

With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as President? If Congress won’t remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that if, if, he oversteps his mandate as president, his constitution-mandated authority as president, I should say.

If he oversteps that, how do we get him out of office? And I don’t think there is a legal means available. I think it will be a terrible, terrible position the American people will be in to get Trump out of office, because you won’t be able to do it through Congress.”

BECK: “I would agree with you on that.”

Given that Thor is talking about a “very bad” and illegal way of removing Trump from office, it’s difficult to imagine what else this could mean other than to physically remove him.

Drudge posted the story under the headline, “GLENN BECK, AUTHOR TALK ‘PATRIOT’ TAKING OUT TRUMP…”

Hours later, Beck’s co-host Pat Gray accused Drudge of being a “lying, despicable scumbag.” Beck labeled Drudge “evil” for suggesting that Thor was talking about taking out Trump physically.

On the radio show yesterday, the two proceeded to engage in a long mealy-mouthed diatribe which appeared to be little more than an effort to convince themselves that Thor wasn’t invoking violence against Trump.

During the discussion, Gray brazenly lied by claiming Drudge had posted a completely different headline to that which actually appeared on his website.

GRAY: Yes, there was no implied – stated or implied — threat whatsoever, which is why that Drudge headline last night was so despicable and showed him to be such a scumbag to me because he put it on top of his page and in red so that everybody would see.

BURGUIRE: What’s the headline? I didn’t see this.

GRAY: And the headline was–

BECK: You didn’t see this?

GRAY: “Glenn Beck Threatens, uh, Glenn Beck, Brad Thor threaten Donald Trump’s life.”

(Reminder – Drudge’s actual headline was “GLENN BECK, AUTHOR TALK ‘PATRIOT’ TAKING OUT TRUMP…”)

BURGUIRE: What?

GRAY: It was literally something like “to kill Donald Trump.” And I just went out of my mind because it was such an absolute bald-faced lie. He’s taken it off now because he probably got a little heat after I wrote my Facebook Post.

The only “bald-faced lie” here appears to be Gray’s claim that Drudge posted a headline that “literally” included the words “kill Donald Trump”. He didn’t.

Beck then said that Thor would call in to the show to explain his comments, but the author never appeared.

Beck later accused Drudge of being “outrageous” and letting his principles slip.

Given that Beck and Gray continue to lie about Matt Drudge in order to cover their own backs, Beck isn’t really in a position to whine about “principles”.
