CBS News is identifying the suspected shooter as Muhammad Youssef Abulazeez.
CBS News reports:
A gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire at two military facilities Thursday in Tennessee, killing at least four Marines and wounding at least two other people, officials told CBS News. The suspect also was killed.
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said five people died in all, including the gunman. Two law enforcement sources told CBS News that the shooting suspect was identified as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez.
U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said officials were treating the attacks as an “act of domestic terrorism,” though FBI Special Agent in Charge Ed Reinhold said authorities were still investigating a motive.
Officials told CBS News correspondent David Marin that four U.S. Marines were among the dead and one other was possibly injured. A police officer also was shot in the ankle and is expected to be ok.
Reports claim Abulazeez is from the Chattanooga area, but that he originally hails from Arizona, and is the only gunman believed to have opened fire.
Witnesses say they saw a man fire shots from a silver convertible Ford Mustang using a “high-powered rifle.”

“I don’t know how many shots he fired, but it was a lot,” one person told CNN, with another person adding “Sounded like it was 30, 40 shots to me.”
As many are highlighting, the Marine recruitment center appears to be a gun-free zone judging by the placard on the window in the picture at the top of this post.
Update: The FBI has released a statement on the shootings.
