Sheriff’s Deputy Hits Teen with Patrol Vehicle

A Cameron County [Texas] Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle struck a 17-year-old man Saturday night, sending him to the hospital with a hip injury.

At 10:52 p.m., the patrol vehicle struck a 17-year-old man walking on the 2800 block of North U.S. 77, said police Sgt. Dave Osborne, a spokesman for the Harlingen Police Department.

Emergency workers transported the teenager to a local hospital, Osborne said, adding that the man suffered a hip injury.

The deputy didn’t suffer any injuries, said Sheriff Omar Lucio.
