Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who announced a presidential run this week, has slammed the incumbent President’s approach to security in the US, saying that while the TSA strips elderly people, known terrorists are allowed to roam free and even tweet about upcoming attacks.
Appearing on Fox News, Huckabee stated “The biggest mistake is he will not identify this enemy as Islamic jihadism.”
“I hear the semantic games … it doesn’t matter. It’s rooted in Islamic jihadism. Whether it’s al-Qaida, ISIS, they’re all leaves from the same tree.” he added, referring to the attempted terror attack in Texas on Sunday, for which ISIS claimed responsibility.
Huckabee declared that “something is incredibly unbalanced about our approach to security.”
“We’re stripping elderly grandmothers electronically naked in [the] TSA process, and this guy’s out there tweeting he’s about to attack somebody, and we don’t catch that?” he urged.
“Thank God for an off-duty traffic cop with a Glock who took down two people,” Huckabee said, regarding the thwarted attack.
“But I think it’s a reminder — we’re not safe anymore in our own country because we haven’t had control of our security situations.” he added.
While the mainstream media has attempted to paint up Pamela Geller’s organisation as almost deserving of being attacked by terrorists, the President still has not personally issued a statement or acknowledgement of Sunday’s attempted attack.
Huckabee, who also ran for President in 2008, has repeatedly criticised the TSA, describing enhanced pat-down procedures as a violation of the Constitution, and akin to sexual abuse.
Huckabee previously challenged the first family to publicly submit to TSA scanners and “enhanced” pat-downs before requiring Americans to do the same. He believes that enhanced profiling is necessary rather than a catch all security system that subjects all Americans to intrusive searches.
