In a remarkable statement, Bill and Hillary Clinton have expressed their sadness over the death of their “personal friend” King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, praising his “humanitarian efforts” and even ridiculously suggesting that he helped the plight of women in the country.
While the world has reacted with disgust as Western leaders expressed praise and sympathy over the death of a self appointed butcher ruler, the Clintons issued their own backwards statement.
“I had many dealings with His Majesty during and after my presidency, as did Hillary both inside and outside the State Department,” Bill Clinton’s portion of the statement read.
“And we are grateful for his support of efforts for peace in the Middle East; our close economic cooperation; the Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts around the world; especially its contributions after the earthquake in Haiti; and his efforts to modernize Saudi Arabia’s economy and education systems – as embodied by King Abdullah University, the Kingdom’s first coeducational institution of higher education,” it also said.
“Hillary and I are also grateful for his personal friendship and kindness toward our family and we join the Saudi people in mourning his loss and send our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family,” the Clinton statement said.

King Abdullah was for decades the figurehead for a regime with an atrocious human rights record and a despotic government that treats women worse than animals. The King even imprisoned his own daughters, Princesses Sahar, 42, and Jawaher, 38. The two have been under house arrest for the last 13 years.
For so called Democratic leaders to praise Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian efforts is a sick joke. The authorities there routinely behead more people than the terrorist group ISIS do, and for crimes including ‘political dissent’ – ie having an opinion that doesn’t jive with that of the government.
Nevertheless, statements by both Barack Obama and John Kerry were issued yesterday praising the Saudi monarch following news of his death being announced.

In Britain, flags are being flown at half mast, both the Queen and Prime Minister have expressed condolences, and Prince Charles is scheduled to visit the Kingdom to pay his respects. The reaction hasprompted a huge public backlash.
