Six Syrian refugees arrived in Houston Monday evening.

They are the second Syrian refugee family to come to Texas this week. Last week, the state filed a lawsuit asking for refugees not to be resettled here in Texas. Texas said it no longer wanted an immediate order stopping refugees, but would continue its lawsuit. Some politicians, including Governor Abbott, don’t want Syrian refugees to come here. They call it a national security issue after the Paris attacks.

President and CEO of Refugee Services of Texas confirmed the refugees’ arrival. He added “due to safety and privacy concerns our organization can’t disclose resettlement details of Syrians or any refugees that have arrived in Houston.”

The president said the “refugees are receiving a warm and compassionate welcome from staff and volunteers.”
