A military jury is expected to begin deliberations Thursday in the guilt phase of the capital murder trial of Maj. Nidal Hasan, who rested his case without giving testimony or calling witnesses.
“The defense rests,” Hasan, serving as his own attorney in a case that could end in the death penalty, told the judge and 13-member jury Wednesday.
Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 31 in the worst mass shooting on a U.S. military base in history. He is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
