Parliament should review the necessity of the Government’s replacement for control orders for terrorism suspects every year, according to Labour.
It was Labour that introduced Control orders in in 2005 to restrict the movements of suspects who were believed to be engaged in terrorism but could not face court action.
At present, MPs and peers have to renew the control orders legislation every year.
However, the Coalition sidestepped that legislation by creating an alternative called the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures (Tpims) Bill, which is due to become law this year.
