While speaking to a military crowd in San Diego on Tuesday, President Trump floated the notion of creating a “Space Force” that would protect the final frontier.
“We have the Air Force; we’ll have the Space Force. We have the Army, the Navy,” Trump said in a speech at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

“You know, I was saying it the other day, because we’re doing a tremendous amount of work in space, I said maybe we need a new force, we’ll call it the ‘Space Force.’ And I was not really serious, and then I said, ‘What a great idea maybe, we’ll have to do that, that could happen.'”
“We are finally going to lead again – you see what’s happening, you see the rockets going up left and right, you haven’t seen that for a long time,” he continued. “Very soon we’re going to Mars – you wouldn’t have been going to Mars if my opponent had won. You wouldn’t even be thinking about it.”
Trump then mocked the mainstream media, suggesting they wouldn’t cover those developments.
“That could be the big breaking story. Look at all those people back there, look at them. Oh, that fake news. Ugh,” he said.
