Obamacare has nothing to do with providing quality healthcare at a reasonable price

Like mandatory car insurance, mandatory Obamacare is about creating a monopolistic market at gunpoint for the sake of large insurance corporations.
Like mandatory car insurance, mandatory Obamacare is about creating a monopolistic market at gunpoint for the sake of large insurance corporations.

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows nearly half of respondents reject government mandated healthcare while 40 percent believe the government has the authority to force goods and services on the populace.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters think the federal government should require every American to buy or obtain health insurance. Forty-six percent (46%) oppose this so-called individual mandate. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

Support for the individual mandate is down from 44% last month  and 42% in January.

Incessant government propaganda, despite the manifest failure of the Obamacare website and dismally low enrollment numbers, has managed to increase approval numbers, if we can believe the Rasmussen numbers. In December, 58% opposed the requirement.

Americans, however, seem to be increasingly clueless about where and how to enroll for Obamacare, a situation emphasizing once again big government cannot deliver services provided by preferred corporate partners (which is, as Mussolini knew, fascism in action).

“Just 52% of voters are now aware whether their state has created an exchange for the sale of health insurance as part of the health care law. That’s down from 59% in February and 57% in January. Prior to this survey, awareness had been steadily growing from a low of 32% in January of last year,” the polling company reports.

The numbers underscore the manifest failure of socialist programs. It also shows how the government will continue to pound square pegs in round holes to get the desire result.

Deluded Socialists

Gerald Friedman, a senior member of Democratic Socialists of America, said last October the United States will implement single-payer health care after Obamacare crashes and burns.

“Barack Obama was right the first time: only a single-payer program can provide universal coverage, and only a single-payer program can control costs. The ACA may be the last bad idea that Americans try,” writes Friedman, “after it fails, we will finally do the right thing: single-payer health insurance.”

Friedman and the socialists are unfortunately clueless when it comes to the real agenda behind Obamacare. Like mandatory car insurance, mandatory Obamacare is about creating a monopolistic market at gunpoint for the sake of large insurance corporations. It has nothing to do with providing quality healthcare at a reasonable price.

Murray Rothbard, arguing against Ayn Rand’s “misty devotion to the Big Businessman,” explained “that it is precisely Big Business that is largely responsible for the twentieth-century march into aggressive statism,” a trend that really took off when government granted monopolistic privilege to the railroads in the latter half of the 19th century.
