More than one-third of consumers chose not to shop at all last month, except on Black Friday, according to Britt Beemer of America’s Research Group. That’s borne out in the November sales numbers from retailers, who have a lot to worry about in December as well, says Beemer. “Over half the people we talked to, who bought one of those advertised loss leaders on [Black Friday] morning, said that may very well be the only gift they give their entire family for the Christmas season,” he says.
