Florida residents were stunned on Tuesday night when they looked to the skies and noticed a fireball suddenly streak across the sky before “exploding” behind the clouds.
According to reports, NASA received more than 60 reports of the cosmic event and has confirmed that it was not the beginning of an alien invasion.
The space agency told ABC Action News in Tampa that the streak was actually a fragment of an asteroid that broke up over the Gulf of Mexico.
