#BREAKING: Loud boom noise heard in Pasco/Pinellas area. Officials in Pasco say it's related to a military exercise in Gulf.

Several Florida residents were roused from their slumbers this morning when loud booms caused by unannounced military exercises rattled their homes.

Residents near the Tampa Bay area, and as far inland as Lakeland, notified their local Fox affiliate of hearing “a series of loud booms,” with unnamed “officials” attributing them to “a military exercise out in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Residents who experienced the rude awakening were provided no further information. Fox 13 reports that the booms did not register on the U.S. Geological Survey’s seismograph.
