The Israeli artillery on Monday shelled border areas in southern Lebanon in response to ambush against an Israeli military vehicle patrolling the border, a spokeswoman for the Israeli Defense Forces said.

A Lebanese source earlier told Sputnik that the Israeli artillery shelled several areas in southern Lebanon with at least 50 rounds.

“An improvised explosive device has been used against a military vehicle near the Har Dov area. Our forces responded with precision artillery fire,” the spokeswoman said.
