The Huffington Post called out the mainstream media for validating concerns about Hillary Clinton’s health while placing blame for the media’s coverage on Roger Stone and Trump campaign CEO Steve Bannon.
Eric Schmeltzer, writing for the Huffington Post, criticized other mainstream media outlets for their coverage of Hillary Clinton’s medical issues after a video of her collapsing following a 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York City was released on social media.
Specifically, Schmeltzer called out “the jackals” Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post, various reporters at Politico and even former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw for suggesting Hillary’s latest episode has propelled concerns over her health into the mainstream media.
“Not even a smiling Hillary Clinton, stepping out of her daughter’s apartment, apparently well, would sate them,” he wrote about the pro-Clinton media. “The speculation about her health went on and on.”
Schmeltzer suggested the media should admire how hard Hillary Clinton campaigned, despite supposedly suffering from “walking pneumonia.”
“A 68-year-old woman, with pneumonia, still kept a schedule that most of us wouldn’t make it through, flying here and there, holding multiple events and briefings a day. That’s not weak,” he claimed. “That’s actually strong and tough as hell.”
Clinton, however, has actually been criticized for having few public events compared to Trump, which indicates she lacks the physical stamina to even campaign.
In August, for example, she was taking several days off between each short, public speech she gave to a small crowd.
“She makes the speech, she turns off the teleprompter,” Trump said about her absences. “Look, what happens, she gives a short speech then she goes home, goes to sleep, she shows up two days later.”
Despite that, Schmeltzer still lambasted Stone and Bannon for pushing the mainstream media to cover Hillary Clinton’s numerous scandals and health concerns and called on journalists now questioning Hillary Clinton’s health to apologize.
“He’s been doing it with a purpose – so that when a not-as-crazy conspiracy comes up, or a situation that reporters can concoct into a not-as-crazy conspiracy arises, they bite,” Schmeltzer said about Stone.
“Nothing yet has been found to be seriously wrong with how the Clinton Foundation operates,” he continued, “But after years and years of books and articles pushed by the Stone/Bannon crowd about Clinton corruption, even some mild hint of something based on ‘optics’ and innuendo takes on a life of its own, with the D.C. press.”
