Another round of violence in Iraq Tuesday claimed the lives of three dozen people as national security forces are straining to prevent attacks seemingly committed by al Qaeda-linked groups.
As has been the case since late April when a revival of sectarian warfare began in earnest, no one claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s series of suicide bombings both north and south of Baghdad.
In the deadliest assault, 16 civilians were killed and more than 50 injured when two militants blew themselves up in an attack directed at Shiite Turkmen protesting deteriorating security in Salahuddin province.
