Liberal democrats are growing weary of defending the Affordable Care Act and fleeing the sinking Obamacare ship in droves.
Yesterday, National Journal’s Ron Fournier penned a piece titled, “Why I’m Getting Sick of Defending Obamacare,” in which he confessed his naivety at being conned by Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act promises and expressed exhaustion from playing apologist for the fundamentally flawed system.
Speaking to the Obama administration’s recent executive decision to delay the employer mandate for yet another year, Fournier wrote, “If not illegal, the changes are fueling suspicion among Obama-loathing conservatives, and confusion among the rest of us. Even the law’s most fervent supporters are frustrated.”
Last night, Fox’s liberal contributor, Kirsten Powers, agreed with and echoed his sentiments.
“I’m going to say amen, brother, because it’s exactly how I feel. People who have supported the law, who support universal health care, are constantly put in the position of having to defend this president, who has really incompetently put this together, rolled it out, and that’s why he has to do this. It’s why he has to keep doing this, because it’s not working.”
“It’s now gotten to the point where it seems like there’s an exemption made for pretty much everybody except for individuals,” Powers stated. “A lot of people who have really been screwed over by the law, you know, who are left without insurance or with extremely expensive insurance.”
Even Democrats are realizing Obama’s latest ACA extension is merely an exercise of his stated desire to work without Congress whenever possible. It’s become frustratingly clear the president and his minions are working to establish a precedent wherein the office of the executive branch can issue unilateral executive orders and deploy major policy changes at its whim.
