It may be a coincidence two ships — one Iranian, the other loaded up with grain and headed for Iran — were hijacked by alleged Somali pirates on the same day. According to some sources, starving Somali pirates are acting out of desperation. On the other hand, these suspiciously timed events have all the earmarks of a false flag operation aimed at Iran.
Iranian-operated cargo ship hijacked off Somalia
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – The U.S. Navy says a cargo ship has been hijacked off the Somalia coast—the latest in a series of attacks by pirates operating out of the African country.
Navy Commander Jane Campbell of the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet says the 26,000-ton bulk cargo carrier was attacked Tuesday in the Gulf of Aden.
She says the ship was flying a Hong Kong flag but is operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines.
The status of the crew or its cargo were not known. Campbell says the ship is likely heading toward an anchorage site off the Somali coast.

Hong Kong grain ship hijacked by pirates
A Hong Kong cargo ship loaded with wheat bound for Iran has been hijacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden, the official Xinhua agency said on Tuesday citing China’s maritime search and rescue centre.
There were 25 crew members on board, none of them from Hong Kong or the Chinese mainland. The ship was carrying 36,000 tonnes of wheat to Iran’s Bandar Abbas port, the report said.
