One More Girl is a documentary filled with stories of anguish and travesty, futures destroyed, and families reduced to financial ruin by medical costs brought on by a supposedly safe vaccine, Gardasil. The vaccine is designed to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

PBS: Vaccine Debate (Feb. 2007)

The video runs about 13:33 (min:sec), and it first aired on PBS NOW in Feb 2007. In early 2007, Governor Perry’s issued an executive order mandating a vaccine that would be administered to 6th grade school girls. The story of the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine is profiled in the video. The vaccine would prevent girls from acquiring a form of cervical cancer which is caused by a sexually transmitted disease. Governor Perry was the first in the nation to propose such a mandate, though almost half of the other states in America are considering similar proposals. Opposition to the mandate was strong, and this episode in Texas politics turned into a power struggle between the governor and the Texas Legislature. The video does not cover the power struggle that was resolved in April 2007.
