Giannis Boutaris is the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Greece (the 2nd largest city in Greece). He is viewed by the public as not just another politician as he is not a lifelong one. Before coming into politics he made his living as the namesake of Greece’s largest winery. He is seen as a maverick, somewhat of a loose cannon in Greece. He is a free-spirit, who is a recovering alcoholic. He walks the center of the city late at night alone with no bodyguards, this is where I found him 2am one morning, window-shopping.
