U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday, with the current bull market on track to remain the longest in history.

The S&P 500 rose 0.2 percent, led by telecoms and energy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 37 points, with Intel and Caterpillar leading the index. Dow Transports hit its first intraday record high since Jan. 16. The Nasdaq Composite outperformed, rising 0.4 percent. Micron and Netflix led the gains.

The bull market turns 3,453 days old on Wednesday, which would make it the longest on record by most definitions. The S&P 500 has risen more than 300 percent since hitting its financial crisis bottom. The index also entered Tuesday’s session less than 1 percent away from its all-time high of 2,872.
