Protests against police violence and the death of Eric Garner and a nationwide effort to jack up the minimum wage are closely linked, according to activists.

“As fast food workers, we feel really upset about the [Eric Garner] decision,” Stanel Walker, a worker at Papa John’s Pizza in Brooklyn, told MSNBC. “This is our way of showing the world how we feel at this time. We want to fight the powers that be so we can be.”

Walker did not elaborate how the minimum wage and police violence are linked.

MSNBC, however, ventured an explanation:

Many low-wage workers saw a connection between their protest Thursday and the ones that have covered the streets of Ferguson and Staten Island in the past week. As [Kendall Fells, organizing director for Fast Food Forward] put it, they’re all “fights against injustice in the U.S.”

Fast Food Forward is a pet project of SEIU, the Service Employees International Union. The union has links to a Marxist organization, the Democratic Socialists of America, one of two official affiliates of the Socialists International, a group associated with diehard communists.

SEIU thugs are known for their thuggery and violence. In 2009, racist knuckle draggers from the union assaulted a man in Missouri for daring to hand out “Don’t Tread On Me” flags at a Democrat townhall promoting Obamacare.

Unions and leftist activist organizations are funding the strike and walkout efforts by minimum wage workers.

On Thursday, Aljazeera reported:

Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a major source of financial support for the fast food strikers, represents some home health care workers and airport workers. Good Jobs Nation, the campaign to unionize and raise wages for employees of federal contractors, is a project of Change to Win, the labor federation of which SEIU is a member.

Good Jobs Nation is funded by unions, including the Teamsters and the United Farm Workers.

Change to Win is a coalition of unions, including SEIU. Militant socialists have denounced it as “an over-blown inside the Beltway concoction,” in other words a sell-out controlled by elite insiders.

Socialists and communists have exploited the Michael Brown protests, as we noted on November 29.

During protests, revolutionary communists called for the murder of Darren Wilson, the Ferguson cop a grand jury decided not to indict in Brown’s death.
