If we can believe Rep. Mike Rogers and Fox News, the Islamic State is sorely in need of some encryption technology.
Rogers, who is the Republican chairman of the House intelligence committee, told Fox News an intercepted IS message was part of a “threat stream” that resulted in Jeh Johnson and the Department of Homeland Security announcing earlier this week “a precautionary step” to protect federal government facilities from “small-scale attacks by a lone offender or a small group of individuals.”
The Michigan Republican said more than a dozen Australian IS recruits were “ready to go to Syria” in September and “further their radicalization,” but they received word “back from ISIL that said: ‘No, No. What we want you to do, stay in Australia. We want you to randomly kidnap people off the street behead them, videotape it, send it to us for further propaganda,”’ Catherine Herridge reports for Fox.
“What you know now is these folks are sending out that message that spontaneous terrorism is the word of the day, and that’s what’s so concerning to individuals that they’re radicalizing these folks to attack government officials,” Rogers said.
“They wanted to have a high-profile event in a Western country. They wanted to show that they could reach out and strike a Western country which is why we believe now you see all of this activity — Canada, the United States, across Europe, Germany, France, Spain because they’re actively working at trying to find an event that happens in a Western country that they can take credit for.”
The dubious intelligence led to the arrest of would-be terrorists in Australia. It took 900 state and national police and domestic-spy-agency officers to track down and apprehend the 14 suspects.
Right on cue following the sensationalistic arrests the Aussie state passed the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment (Foreign Fighters) “which will make it easier for police and security agencies to apprehend alleged terrorist suspects (and supporters) and detain them without explanation, potentially leading to lengthy prison sentences,” according to CNN.
Additionally, the murder of a soldier by a mentally deranged man has resulted in new draconian legislation in Canada.
Fabricating the Bogus Domestic Threat
As we noted on Wednesday, the effort to portray a domestic terror threat by IS beheaders is the next phase in what the state repeatedly characterizes as a forever war against phantom enemies. That U.S. intelligence has played a decisive role in creating the IS and al-Qaeda monster is rarely if ever mentioned when the corporate media parrots the government narrative.
The domestic threat rarely plays out, of course, because it is initiated by government agencies, most notably the FBI. Despite this and the fact if IS really wanted to abduct and behead people in the U.S. or any other Western country it could do so easily, the state has declared new oppressive laws are required to combat the menace, laws that seriously circumspect liberty and the rights of the individual.
The remarkable aspect to the cobbled together IS threat in America, Canada, Britain and Australia is the fact the state expects us to believe transparently bogus events represent actual threats. The Canadian men and a man in New York said to be IS adherents and the vanguard of a looming IS threat were mentally ill and found not to have any link whatsoever to the Islamic State.
Of course, in the convoluted logic of the state, there need not be a direct connection. The most tenuous hypothetical connection will suffice. And, as always, the government’s say on such matters is final and irrefutable.
“Recent terror attacks in New York City and Ottawa, Canada, according to current and former U.S. officials, affirmed that the threat from lone actors inspired by ISIS is more than hypothetical,” Herridge concludes, echoing the finality of the state.
In fact, the exact opposite is true – the entire domestic terror threat, beyond the activity of a handful of mentally deranged individuals and FBI patsies, is purely and demonstrably hypothetical.
The current program is a repeat of the CIA and NATO’s Operation Gladio in Europe where violence and the threat of terrorism was practiced “to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security. This is the political logic that lies behind all the massacres and the bombings which remain unpunished, because the state cannot convict itself or declare itself responsible for what happened.”
