The temporary job loss associated with the shutdown of Market Basket supermarkets appears to have ended last month, according to statewide jobs figures released Thursday by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and the the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The state of Massachusetts added 9,400 jobs in September for a new total of more than 3.4 million.
The state’s unemployment rate rose by two-tenths of a percentage point to 6 percent. The labor force increased by 14,600, a good sign economists say because it shows more people are looking for work. That larger labor force can lead to a higher unemployment rate.
