Antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria have now spread to every part of the world and might lead to a future where minor infections could kill, according to a global report published by the World Health Organization.

Drugmakers have said they will no longer make antibiotics, driving up the cost and leaving the world vulnerable to an outbreak.

Drug resistance is driven by the misuse and overuse of antibiotics, which encourages bacteria to develop new ways to overcome them. As some strains are eradicated, other, moral viral forms of the disease pop up in their place.
