Update: Within a few short hours of this post, the petition received over 14 thousand signatures, pushing it well beyond the 100,000 threshold. The White House claims it “plans to respond to each petition that crosses the signature threshold” “in a timely fashion.”

A petition seeking to ban laws mandating compulsory vaccination has received nearly enough signatures to reach its goal as the deadline approaches.

A petition entitled, Prohibit Any Laws Mandating the Force and Requirement of Vaccinations of Any Kind,” has gathered over 86 thousand signatures and is well on its way to reaching its goal, but still requires roughly 14,000 more by Friday, March 6, to necessitate a response from the White House.

“No human being should be FORCED to be vaccinated against their will and/or personal/religious beliefs,” reads the petition, which appeared on the “We the People” website last month.

“I petition against making vaccinations of any kind mandatory,” the petitioner writes. “This includes forcing children to be vaccinated to attend public schools, activities, and daycare centers. This also includes adults working in the public or private sector.”

Following the highly publicized measles outbreak, which initially spread among visitors to the Disneyland theme park, government health authorities and the mainstream media colluded to stir vaccine proponents into a frenzy by launching a full-scale attack on the freedom of choice.

Lawmakers in several states appeased their corporate masters by readying laws geared to weaken exemptions for those who refuse vaccines on religious or conscientious-belief grounds.

To date, 29 states have proposed legislation intending to limit vaccine exemptions and the right to refuse based on informed consent.

Of course, the fact that many health authorities profit from the Big Pharma, Big Government revolving door (take former CDC head Dr. Julie Gerberding, now president of Merck’s vaccine division, for instance) is rarely mentioned.

Unfortunately, even if the petition reaches its 100,000 signature threshold, the White House will either ignore it, or issue a statement explaining why, due to the “preponderance of evidence from the scientific establishment,” it must regretfully dismiss the petitioners’ requests.

The president has already made his feelings on vaccines known. Last month in an interview with NBC’s Today Show, Obama encouraged parents to “get your kids vaccinated” because “it’s good for them.”

But the petition’s success is a testament to Americans’ distrust of the medical industrial complex, whose secretive “vaccine court” has paid out more than $3 billion to Americans injured or killed by vaccines since 1989.

And the CDC’s sordid history doesn’t help. The federal agency has yet to address why it expunged pages on its website pertaining to the 1950s polio vaccine, which infected tens of millions of Americans with a primate form of cancer virus.
